Favorite personal
appearance on television:
Sunday
December 8, 1996, 10 pm, Channel 9, Oklahoma
City. I explained why I and many people in my
neighborhood objected to a proposed 150 foot high cross next to the interstate
1/2 mile away, intended to be brightly lit at night -- the area is zoned with a
max of 35 foot structures or signs. Zoning protects our property values. If the
church can put up a tall sign so too can Conoco put
up a tall sign, which will show over the very low hill that separates our
neighborhood from the Interstate.
Favorite phone
answering machine message:
"Mr.
Hamm, are you an atheist? Why do you not want the cross in Edmond? You know I think you need to read
back in the newspaper. I think that if you are an atheist you need to move the
hell out of this country. Thank you, communist."

Read a poem entitled Cross Cultures in honor of Howard Stein, PhD,
on the occasion of his 20 years of service to the Department of Family and
Community Medicine and Dentistry.
