Correlated Signs, Symptoms, or Test Results
Physicians often have more than one piece of relevant information.
We advise them to use the information according to its test characteristics
- Sensitivity: p(sign | disease)
- Specificity: p(sign absent | no disease)
and taking account of their other knowledge of the patient
- Prevalence of disease, prior probability for this patient.
Use Bayes’ Theorem to adjust the probability of disease.
