If your browser does not download the
CDM calculators correctly when you click on them, you might try
a) use your mouse in such a way*that
it gives you the option what to do with the file -- download ("save"),
open, save the address, etc. -- and then you can choose to save
it.
b) go to the preference definition
menu of your browser, and tell it that a file with an .XL4 extension
is an Excel file and that you want to save it to disk rather than
open it.**
***************************************************************
Notes from above
* e.g.,
Hold down the mouse button, without releasing it, until a little
menu comes up on screen, then drag to "save this location"
and release the mouse button.
**
For example, using Netscape Communicator, go into Communicator's
"Edit/Preferences/Navigator/Applications" menu, and
define a New application (by clicking on the "new" button).
I called it "Microsoft Excel" but if you already have
a Microsoft Excel application defined, you might want to call
this "CDM calculator". Click on "Browse" and
find the actual Microsoft Excel program, on you computer. I did
not know what kind of mime file type it was, so I left that blank.
I said the extension was "xl4" (that is XL4; no period).
Then it forced me to pick from a menu, and I picked "xls".
You also must choose whether to open the file right then, or to
save it on disk. As I mentioned above, if you save it on disk
and you use PCs, you might need to tell Excel that a "XL4"
extension is associated with Excel.
